Tuesday, 30 June 2009 08:51
This week the US Food and Drug Administration confirmed that E. coli bacteria was present in one of the cookie dough products that they warned consumers about on June 19th. The contaminated sample was collected at the Nestle Danville, Virginia factory on June 25th.

The finding confirms what had been suspected given reports of associated illnesses across the US. Thirty-four people have been hospitalized for related illnesses - nine with severe complications.

According to Nestle, the products involved in the voluntary recall include all varieties of Nestle Toll House refrigerated Cookie Bar Dough, Cookie Dough Tub; Cookie Dough Tube; Limited Edition Cookie Dough items; Seasonal Cookie Dough and Ultimates Cookie Bar Dough. Information about specific products and lots involved can be found on the Nestle website.
